Everything Lilac. They’re everywhere, in the hou Everything Lilac. They’re everywhere, in the house, the garden, the cooler, bouquets & weddings. Our Lilacs were so late this year but really just on time- for all of you! Flower subscriptions will be at your door today between 11-4pm. For those of you with an All Season subscription, this is your final “Spring” bouquet until August when you’ll start receiving your Fall Bouquets all through August & September. This year we are taking a short delivery break in July since so many of our customers travel during July for vacations. Keeping track of postponements & cancellations gets a little crazy in July🤪. So we decided to just conform to our customers schedule & take July off. Although ‘off’ is somewhat relative as we’ll still be working hard planting & getting ready for harvests of Sunflowers, Dahlias and late summer/early fall blooms. I think the flowers will be grateful for more time to soak up the sun’s rays, which have decided to be stingy as of late! 💐☀️
Hey hey bouquet subscribers, your sunshine in a ja Hey hey bouquet subscribers, your sunshine in a jar is headed out to your doors today. It might be soggy outside but it’s all rainbows despite the weather🌈 🏳️‍🌈!
Renown Unique Tulips steal the show this week with pink peonies and lovely fringed orange tulips. It’s been a challenge to coax flowers out of soggy sad struggling plants, but a great big 🙏🏼 to Mother Nature for her gracious cooperation. We had just enough! Loreen at @daisies.in.may provided the white sweet rocket since mine is yet to be seeded. One of my rules is to always have some white in every arrangement, it gives your eye a place to rest. Thank you Loreen, it gave my anxious flower-soul peace to be able have beautiful white sweet rocket this week! #Spokaneflowers #spokaneflorist #prairieskyflowers

In memory of the courageous men & women who counte In memory of the courageous men & women who counted our lives worthy to defend.
If anyone needs flowers for your gravesites today, please DM & I’ll leave a bucket on our front porch for you, gratis.
We’d drive 8 hours to the old hometown & small church each year where my family members who died fighting wars were laid, where Keane was laid & the rest of my relatives. We’d stop & get flowers on the way, keeping them freshly watered in the hot car. It’s thousands of miles away now that old churchyard, but evergreen in my memory. May the traditions of your family bless you today.
I love you Dad.
My brother was killed by gun violence at the age o My brother was killed by gun violence at the age of 13. You’ve seen these blue Forget Me Nots on the grid before, enduring blue waves in Spring that will forever be my connection to Keane . I thought I’d get on today & say something to try..
Nope said my body. On days like today my body remembers, and it takes weeks to be normal again.
I know from experience it’s useless anyway. Whatever you are believing or endorsing right now is what you will die believing & endorsing. Very few people are humble enough to change.

I always try to end on a positive note, so I’m going to list what I’ve grown thankful for.

I’m thankful that families don’t have to see their child’s precious body ripped open & shredded in order to identify them. You have no idea what that does to a person. DNA swabs. Much less traumatic. We’ve perfected the craft.

I’m thankful families don’t have to hear about the monstrosity of their child’s blood & tissue on the walls, carpets, desks, coat rack..they won’t ever have to hear through the grapevine ‘how it all got cleaned up’ or the ‘Renovations’ that serendipitously were done because ‘it never comes out’ . Now we have professional companies in America who clean up after gun violence. It’s become a unique specialty. We’ve perfected the craft.

I’m thankful that families don’t have to stress or worry over the Mortician’s & Funeral Director’s pressing concerns on preparing a tender body shot at close range for a viewing at the memorial service. Now it’s socially acceptable to incinerate what’s left of their flesh & blood into ash. The proof of such massively explosive deaths simply rises in the smoke of the incinerators, the wind silently blowing them away. Sterilized. Much less traumatic. We’ve perfected the craft.

I’m thankful that in the 2000’s with the invention of social media we all discovered, rather joyously, that there only 8 degrees of separation between every human on the planet. Remember how fun that was?

I wonder, American reader, how much time does 8 degrees of separation buy you?
Bouquet subscribers, flowers will be at your doors Bouquet subscribers, flowers will be at your doors this beautiful sunny Sunday. Enjoy the sun & flowers! These Peony Tulips are closed when we arrange them and open up like magic inside the house to flowers the size of your hand. Spring Bouquets are some of my favorite to make. They last forever in a vase. Remember to change your water every day. We are off to dig & plant in the garden....👩‍🌾

I take back everything I said about the Apricot Pride tulips the other day ( second pic) Look how Fly they are. Even orange tulips have won a place in the garden, we’re off the chain now...

There really is nothing like an Angelique massed i There really is nothing like an Angelique massed in a border. Some of these were already harvested earlier to go into your bouquets this weekend. I think this is the year we’ll just be eating cold loving Asian greens & Snow Peas from the garden. Not even sure if the Tomatoes will have a go! But the flowers are shining! ☀️
Tulips decided they aren’t waiting any longer fo Tulips decided they aren’t waiting any longer for nicer weather. We are harvesting every day now. With a greenhouse of impatient seedlings needing to spread their roots and languishing Dahlias with sprouts trying to grow in sawdust, our To Do list only ends when we run out of ink right now. Can you guess the second pic? Is it a Peony or Tulip? I planted a portion of my tulips in between peonies in a long row. This Double Sugar tulip is amazing me. Growing through the Paeonia foliage, it could truly pass for a Peony. We have some of them in the cooler for your subscription bouquets next week. Enjoy the sun! ☀️🌷
